I truly look forward to this journey together. My story to founding Shama Healing was not in my plans, but more or less a universal occurrence that found me. As a Cancer (Leo Rising and Moon in Scorpio), I’ve always been very intuitive by nature, so it would make sense that I found myself here in the most bizarre year in history. In December 2019, I moved from the Kingdom of Bahrain to New York for a new career move with my company. So excited, I was ready to get started, dive in and roll up my sleeves in my new role; however, 2020 would have completely different plans for me as I found out. By April, I found myself furloughed, in a COVID-19 quarantine, and on unemployment.

Having been in a demanding PR position just months before, it’s like time literally stopped. And so I began to sleep, sleep some more, and fill my days with everything under the sun, and of course, getting out to nature when it felt safe. But I still felt as if I was missing something. Something to give my life more meaning and purpose. By modern standards, I had everything to occupy my time. A beautiful Manhattan apartment. A tribe of supportive friends and family. A million and one hobbies to keep me busy. Time to sleep as much as I wanted to. Food in the fridge and no “kids” to run after as per my married friends and sister Gina. But it wasn’t enough. As I began a daily meditation practice, I realized I was tapping into a gift I never knew I had. A gift that would help me heal, and as well as others. Curious about Reiki, a longtime acquaintance recommend me to the fantastic Reiki Master Kelly Keefe, of Heartspace, and so it was on a warm early summer morning that I had my first virtual Reiki session.

Not knowing what to expect, I was immediately hooked. And if I am being candid, let’s just say I was changed forever. Fast forward several sessions later, I became a Reiki cultist that soon convinced herself this just might be her calling. By the end of summer into fall, I started my Reiki Level 1 and II attunements and, after that, began a weekly meditation circle, the RZone, for my inner tribe. You never know where life will take you, but what I do know is that if you let the universe guide you, it will always lead you to where you are meant to be. Nothing is ever by chance. Of course, there is more to my story, but I’ll be putting this in my first book on how I arrived to the moment I am now.
